It was just
another ordinary day, when we woke up, got done with our daily chores, got over
with the day like any other day, got up, had our breakfast, went to the office, had lunch, worked, came
back from the office at night, had dinner and then went back to bed. This was
the usual course of our day, the day before you came in to our ordinary life
and made it extraordinary, till you walked into our lives with your small pink
coloured shiny feet, filled light in our lives with your charming smile, tapped
your little hands on the bed, made numerous faces while you were asleep, look
hopefully at your mother when you were hungry, slept peacefully on our laps with
a smile on your face with your pink lips, your small grey coloured sparkling
eyes looking at our faces with amusement, moving your little feet in the air as
if you are riding a bicycle. Those knees, yes we have felt those small round
knees even before you came, with our palms, our fingers, those small feet
kicking your mother, your little cute hiccups, that are familiar to your mama
since several months as they hit her heart as much as yours.
I distinctly
remember the day when you came home. We had decorated your room with red heart
shaped balloons, millions of teddies, small pillows for your little head, small
and big dolls, pink, white, red, green, blue, orange, there was no colour that
was not present in your room that wonderful day. You know the way you came into
this world, it makes me feel you are the strongest baby in the whole world, the
strength you showed was the first thing you did in your life, and that, I’m
sure will build a strong person out of you. It doesn’t matter if you’re a girl
or a boy, all that matters to us is that you grow up to become a wonderful
person, just like you are right now! I cannot see a girl or a boy in you, I can
just see a lovely smile on your face, shiny bright eyes with dreams within,
your chubby cheeks waiting to be kissed by your love ones, your little hands
holding our finger, your silky shiny hair just like that of an angel, hair that
blow lightly with a soft blow of air, hair that make you sleep while we also
fall asleep peacefully softly moving our fingers into them in the night.
The principal
thing out of all our daily activities is YOU now. It is all important, your
poop, your peepee, your sneezes, your sleeps, your waking up, the sweet sound
of your breath that sounds like a soft whisper in the ear, your yawns, small
yawns that begin as yawns and end up as sleeps, your face turned pink, then red
and then white, pale, then pink again, the way you silently fall asleep while
we slowly swing you with a lullaby in the night, all this is important, this is
all YOU, and YOU are important, the most important, your small feet, your
hands, your eyes, your lips, your ears, your nose, your fingers, your nails,
nails that we carefully cut so you don’t hurt yourself, your small blankets,
your little pink bed, those potty filled nappies that are dearer to me than any
perfume filled hankie.
You have come
into our lives and entered it in such a way that we cannot even imagine we had
a life where you weren’t there, there is hardly any memory without you in it
now! And it is strange but you have just come some days ago but it feels as if
you have always been there, there has never been a day without you and your
sweet presence, our little princess. The way you are bathed and turn your face
to bright red, cry unstoppably, and finally the relief of seeing you peacefully
sleep, smiling and making sweet sounds in your sweet and sound sleep, there is
nothing so relaxing and rejuvenating in this world for me than watching you
sleep, like an angel, my snowhite.. You are the light of our nights, the reason
and rhyme of our life, the smile on our lips, our baby warrior, you are
everything to us, our sweet little princess.
I know you will
grow up, but try to never really grow up, just be who you are, innocent and
clean at heart, keep the same naïve smile, the same wonderful hands that hold
anyone’s finger with pure love and no other reason, keep that breathless charm
for us always, hold that pretty small wrinkle on your nose that comes while you
laugh, keep alive all your smiles that come while you are asleep, that worry
less sleep you enjoy right now, with both your hands by the side of your head,
the small innocent dreams that you see and never care about them being
fulfilled or not. Grow up, learn to live in and deal with the world, but never
become someone that has to be dealt with, just remain this cute little person
that is wonderful to talk to, sweet to listen to, awesome to be with, pretty to
look at, pink face, meaningless smiles in return to all who smile at you, we
love you and always will. Just love and be loved, small baby, always remain
such…
Your innocent
face makes me think it is all true, and I think though we waited for so long
for you to arrive, it was all worth the wait, for your smile made it all worth
waiting, your smile makes it heaven on earth for us, keep smiling!
